"Lay Lady Lay" was written by Bob Dylan and originally intended for the soundtrack of the Academy Award winning film "Midnight Cowboy" starring Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight, but Dylan didn't submit his recording in time. Nevertheless, the song went to #7 on the charts during the summer of 1969.

Robbie Burns

TO A MOUSE
ON TURNING HER UP IN HER NEST WITH THE PLOUGH, NOVEMBER, 1785
by: Robert Burns (1759-1796)
      I

      EE, sleekit, cowrin, tim'rous beastie,
Oh, what a panic's in thy breastie!
Thou need na start awa sae hasty,
      Wi' bickering brattle!
I was be laith to rin an' chase thee,
      Wi' murd'ring pattle!

      II

      I'm truly sorry man's dominion
      Has broken Nature's social union,
      An' justifies that ill opinion
      Which makes thee startle
At me, thy poor, earth-born companion
      An' fellow-mortal!

      III

      I doubt na, whyles, but thou may thieve;
What then? poor beastie, thou maun live!
      A daimen-icker in a thrave
      'S a sma' request;
I'll get a blessin wi' the lave,
      And never miss't!

      IV

Thy wee-bit housie, too, in ruin!
Its silly wa's the win's are strewin!
An' naething, now, to big a new ane,
      O' foggage green!
      An' bleak December's winds ensuin,
      Baith snell an' keen!

      V

Thou saw the fields laid bare an' waste,
      An' weary winter comin fast,
An' cozie here, beneath the blast,
      Thou thought to dwell,
Till crash! the cruel coulter past
      Out thro' thy cell.

      VI

That wee bit heap o' leaves an stibble,
Has cost thee mony a weary nibble!
Now thou's turn'd out, for a' thy trouble,
      But house or hald,
To thole the winter's sleety dribble,
      An' cranreuch cauld!

      VII

But, Mousie, thou art no thy lane,
In proving foresight may be vain:
The best-laid schemes o' mice an' men
      Gang aft a-gley,
An' lea'e us nought but grief an' pain,
      For promis'd joy!

      VIII

Still thou art blest, compared wi' me!
      The present only toucheth thee:
But och! I backward cast my e'e,
      On prospects drear!
An' forward, tho' I cannot see,
      I guess an' fear!

"Apache" was composed by guitarist Jerry Lordan who was inspired to write it by the 1954 film of the same name. The British instrumental group The Shadows were touring with Jerry when he played it for them, and ultimately they recorded this version which was a big hit in the U.K, during the summer months of 1960. A few months after the release of this recording, Jorgen Ingmann covered the song and took it to #2 in the U.S. in February of 1961. Today this song is considered one of the greatest guitar tracks ever recorded.

One love, One heart
Let's get together and feel all right
Hear the children crying (One Love)
Hear the children crying (One Heart)
Sayin' give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right
Sayin' let's get together and feel all right

Let them all pass all their dirty remarks (One Love)
There is one question I'd really love to ask (One Heart)
Is there a place for the hopeless sinner
Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own?
Believe me

One Love, One Heart
Let's get together and feel all right
As it was in the beginning (One Love)
So shall it be in the end (One Heart)
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right
One more thing

Let's get together to fight this Holy Armageddon (One Love)
So when the Man comes there will be no no doom (One Song)
Have pity on those whose chances grove thinner
There ain't no hiding place from the Father of Creation

Sayin' One Love, One Heart
Let's get together and feel all right
I'm pleading to mankind (One Love)
Oh Lord (One Heart)

Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right
Let's get together and feel all right

Shakin all over - Swinging Blue Jeans

When you move in right up close to me
That's when I get the chills all over me

Quivers down my backbone
I got the shakes in my thigh bone
I got the shivers in my knee bone
Shakin' all over

Just the way you say goodnight to me
Brings the feelin' on inside of me

Quivers down my backbone
I got the shakes in my thigh bone
I got the shivers in my knee bone
Shakin' all over

------ short instrumental break ------

Quivers down my backbone
I got the shakes in my thigh bone
I got the shivers in my knee bone
Shakin' all over

Well, you make me shake and I like it, baby
You make me shake and I like it, baby
Well, shake, shake, shake
Shake, shake
Shake, shake, shake
Shake, shake, shake

Sickle Moon

MATINS

A sickle of moon is caught
in the branches of cottonwoods
along the ice choked river.

A black night.

Stars in their constellations
so far away,
my prayers fly nakedly,
shadows among them.

It is cold.

With broken star gazers who pray,
I await a reply.
Simple worship does not seek
the approval of an echo.

Freezing, yielding to the shivers
of cooling blood, I stumble in
to wait by my fire
of forest wood.

I hear silver chimes
hanging in the blue spruce
outside my frozen window
played by mercy of sudden wind.

A sickle moon, a star,
a wrung out prayer,
matins sealed with silver chimes.

Serenity to accept the things I cannot change

Five Things We Cannot Change:

1.) Everything changes and ends.

2.) Things do no always go as planned.

3.) Life is not always fair.

4.) Pain is part of life.

5.) People are not loving and loyal all the time.

Begin now to creat the life that you want for yourself while adhering to the principles of sustainability, compassion and fairness.

Purpose: What do you want to provide meaning and engagement in your life.  What meaning do you want to give to your life knowing that the meaning of life is the meaning you give it?

First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do.
- Epictetus

Whatever you do, do with all your might. ~ Cicero

The energy of the mind is the essence of life. ~ Aristotle

Be clear about what you want and make the appropriate decisions and choices...

There is no more miserable human being than one in whom nothing is habitual but indecision. ~ William James

Persevere and Persist...

When something of an affliction happens to you, you either let it defeat you, or you defeat it.
~ Rousseau

The bravest sight in the world is to see a great man struggling against adversity. ~ Seneca

“When you reach an obstacle, turn it into an opportunity. You have the choice.
You can overcome and be a winner, or you can allow it to overcome you and be a loser. The choice is yours and yours alone.
Refuse to throw in the towel. Go that extra mile that failures refuse to travel. It is far better to be exhausted from success than to be rested from failure.”
– Mary Kay Ash, founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics

Learn from your mistakes...

Failure defeats losers, failure inspires winners.
- Robert T. Kiyosaki (Rich Dad Poor Dad)

Each problem that I solved became a rule, which served afterwards to solve other problems. ~ Descartes

When you’re ready to quit, you are closer than you think.
– Bob Parsons (Founder Of Go Daddy)

As is our confidence, so is our capacity.
- William Hazlitt

"One who gains strength by overcoming obstacles possesses the only strength which can overcome adversity."
~Albert Schweitzer

Being true to our own set of values and always remembering to live our life and to give it the meaning we want by the actions we take and the choices we make will provide us the greatest satisfaction in the long run.

We are really competing against ourselves, we have no control over how other people perform.
– Pete Cashmore (Founder Of Mashable)

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”    -- Steve Jobs

"And in the end it's not the years in your
life that count. It's the life in your years."
- Abraham Lincoln

Be Here Now...

Projecting our thoughts far ahead of us, instead of adapting ourselves to the present, is cause of fear. Foresight, the greatest blessing humanity has been given, is also a curse.
~ Seneca, Roman philosopher and politician, Letters to Lucilius

Creating something from nothing is the meaning of being an entrepreneur...

Genius is 1% inspiration, and 99% perspiration
- Thomas Edison, inventor and scientist

Timing, perseverance and 10 years of trying will eventually make you look like an overnight success.
– Biz Stone (Twitter)

“It doesn’t matter how many times you fail. It doesn’t matter how many times you almost get it right. No one is going to know or care about your failures, and neither should you. All you have to do is learn from them and those around you because all that matters in business is that you get it right once.  Then everyone can tell you how lucky you are.”
 - Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, co-founder of Broadcast.com, founder of HDNet

The critical ingredient is getting off your butt and doing something. It’s as simple as that.

A lot of people have ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them now.
Not tomorrow. Not next week. But today. The true entrepreneur is a doer, not a dreamer.

- Nolan Bushnell, founder of Atari and Chuck E. Cheese’s
