To thee the warbling lute,
though used to conquest,
must be forced to yield,
with thee unable to dispute.
Merveilleux instrument !
Face à toi le luth langoureux,
malgré son charme conquérant,
est contraint à l'abandon,
incapable de se mesurer à toi.

Sich dir zu ergeben, muss die trällernde Laute,
an Eroberung gewöhnt, gezwungen werden:
Mit dir lässt sich nicht streiten.
